Angel Chapman-McDavid, JD

Angela Michelle Chapman-McDavid, JD, is a seasoned nonprofit executive, author, speaker, and community leader with more than a decade of experience in nonprofit management, human services, advocacy, organizational leadership, fundraising, grant management, strategic planning, and operations. Known to most as “Angel,” she is recognized for her unwavering commitment to empowering individuals, strengthening communities, and creating meaningful opportunities for those she serves.
Since May 2026, Angel has served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The BASE Otero Community Youth Center in Otero County, New Mexico. In this role, she leads the organization’s mission to empower youth through Belief, Authenticity, Success & Elevation (BASE) by providing safe, engaging, and educational before-school, after-school, and summer programming for children and teens ages 5–17. Under her leadership, The BASE Otero continues to expand its impact across the communities of Alamogordo, Tularosa, and surrounding areas, helping young people discover their potential and build successful futures.
Prior to joining The BASE Otero, Angel served as Executive Director of the Family Crisis Council of Rowan, Inc. in North Carolina, where she led programs supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. She also previously served as Executive Director of Voices Against Violence in Twin Falls, Idaho, helping victims and survivors achieve safety, empowerment, and independence. Her extensive professional background includes leadership positions in human resources, administration, operations, victim advocacy, and organizational development.
Angel earned a Juris Doctor from Florida A&M University College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, graduating summa cum laude, from North Carolina A&T State University. She is also a Certified Nonprofit Executive (CNE) through the National Association of Nonprofit Organizations & Executives (NANOE). Throughout her career, she has successfully led organizations through strategic growth, program expansion, fundraising initiatives, grant development, and community engagement efforts.
A passionate advocate for children, families, and underserved populations, Angel believes strongly in the power of education, mentorship, and community collaboration to transform lives. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in service, integrity, compassion, and the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Angel is an accomplished author, business consultant, and speaker who frequently shares her personal journey of resilience, recovery, and purpose. She has dedicated her life to helping others overcome adversity and discover hope. Her story of perseverance has inspired audiences across the country and serves as a testament to the transformative power of faith, determination, and service.
Angel is happily married to her husband, Kenneth McDavid, and is the proud mother of five adult children and grandmother to numerous beloved grandchildren. Whether leading organizations, mentoring future leaders, or serving her community, she remains committed to her lifelong mission of making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of others.
